I am truly satisfied. I have not used my fireplace for 4-5 years. The hamper was rusted. I called 3 companies for an estimate. 2 came in and said it would cost $450-$500. Ageless came in and first tried spraying WD40. It worked! And they didn't even charge me. I highly recommend this company.Bob Alarcon
Bobby and Sherwood came to our house in Massapequa after my wife and I had been dealing with a leaking chimney for weeks. After providing us with a reasonable estimate they performed the work the following day and our chimney has not had a leak since through several storms. Would definitely recommend them to family and friends.Joseph Sorce
Unfortunately not thrilled with work that was done. We had them redo our stoop with the understanding all sides would be bricked like original, it wasn't. Sides were stuccoed. Plus gaps between bricks on steps where water would seep and in winter when frozen would cause cracks. The stone was marked up and they destroyed grass by cutting stone on it. Would not recommend at all.Kathleen S.
Would highly recommend this company. They had excellent customer service! From the beginning phone call with Cheryl the receptionist to the workers Keith and Kyle that installed a stainless steel chimney liner today. This company was a pleasure to deal with, fast, had great prices, meticulous work, and highly recommended:)Stacey B.
These guys cleaned our chimney, fixed issues we were having with it (we just bought the house) and showed us how to use the thing a la Boy Scouts style (our first home and first fireplace), which obviously was above and beyond. Their employees were helpful, professional, and quick. In and out of my house in no time. Very likeable staff and reasonable prices. Definitely will use again and recommend to others.Ivy C.
I had this company come by and fix my chimney. The owner Bobby is a great guy. I saw some of his videos on Facebook and decided to give them a call and I am glad I did. The last gut did a horrible job the chimney was falling in.steven orandello
The job came out great. If you need any masonry work done. I would definitely give them a call first. I don't think you will be disappointed . Thanks
This contractor is legit. Right from the phone call to the installation. The receptionist scheduled someone to come out and called me to let me know they were on there way. Bobby arrived on time, with his crew, and provided me with a full explanation of what needed to be done, what materials he uses, all the material specifications, how the chimney liner installation was to be done, cost and warranty. He was neat and clean and made sure I was satisfied throughout each step of the installation.Frank C.
As an Engineer, I expect someone who is knowledgeable, experienced, affordable (within reason), and can produce good quality work. Bobby from Ageless Chimney met all those qualities and deserves this review.
Our oil company came to do the annual boiler cleaning and said there was a nest in the chimney. I had their recommended chimney company come for an estimate and they said we needed a new liner and brickwork (we have a very old house so I wasn't surprised), but their price seemed high. I'm usually wary about calling a company without a personal recommendation, but I called Ageless based on their on-line reviews and couldn't be happier. Their price was considerably less than we were quoted by the first company. They arrived on time, were able to do the work same day and were done in about an hour. The guys were very professional and everything was clean when they left. Don't be surprised if you see this same review on other web sites - I'm very happy to recommend this company!Isabel F.

When the weather outside is frightful, warming up in front of a roaring fire is delightful. But what’s supposed to be an enjoyable experience can be extremely dangerous if your chimney is damaged. A chimney is an essential component of a fireplace or a wood burning stove. Without it, the by-products of a fire would have no way to vacate your home, which could lead to serious trouble. Toxic smoke would fill your house and there would be a serious risk of fire.
While a chimney is supposed to vent heat, smoke, carbon dioxide, and other products of combustion, if the structure is damaged in any way, it doesn’t function properly A damaged chimney is a dangerous chimney. It can’t vent a fire’s by-products, so every time you light a fire, you are putting yourself and anyone else around the fire in serious danger.
The Importance of Chimney Repair
Damaged chimneys are one of the leading causes of house fires in the United States. Each year, countless properties go up in flames as a result of an improperly functioning chimney. One of the main functions of the structure is to prevent excess heat from building up inside the home. If the chimney is cracked or otherwise damaged, heat can leak into the walls that surround it. Heat buildup can damage the structural integrity of the walls and the chimney; it also increases the risk of fire.
Fire isn’t the only cause for concern; exposure to dangerous gases is another that’s associated with a damaged chimney. Fire produces several types of gasses, including carbon monoxide. This colorless, odorless gas is highly toxic. If there are cracks in the structure or the flue is damaged, instead of venting out of your house, the gasses could end up pouring in. Breathing in those toxic fumes is a serious health hazard and can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, which can result in serious illness and even death.
Because of these severe, potentially life-threatening effects, early detection, and repair of any type of chimney damage is crucial.
Common Types of Chimney Damage
While chimneys are generally durable, they can sustain damage. Exposure to high heat, smoke, and other elements, such as creosote and moisture, can degrade the various components of the structure. Some of the most common types of chimney damage include:
- Damaged mortar. Most chimneys are made of masonry materials, like a brick. Mortar is the glue that holds masonry materials together. Heat, smoke, and exterior elements, like wind and rain, can lead to cracks in the mortar. Mortar damage increases the risk of moisture penetration, which can weaken the entire structure and increase the risk of collapse.
- Flue damage. A flue lines a chimney and protects the structure from high heat and dangerous gases. A damaged flue is a serious problem that can lead to severe consequences.
- Damaged or missing crowns. The crown protects a chimney from the exterior elements. It prevents debris from entering the shaft. If it’s damaged or missing, sticks, dirt, leaves, and even animals can enter the structure, resulting in dangerous blockages.
How to Avoid the Effects of Chimney Damage
Regular inspections and routine maintenance are the best way to avoid chimney damage and the devastating effects that it can cause. If your property has a chimney, schedule yearly cleanings and pays attention to any of the signs of disrepair; crumbling mortar and the accumulation of tiles in your fireplace, for example. If you spot any signs of trouble, contact a reputable chimney repair specialist as soon as possible. If you aren’t sure how to spot the signs of damage, have an experienced company assess it for you.
