Everything about this company was very professional beginning with the friendly receptionist in the office. She scheduled to have someone come out for an estimate a few days after my call. Someone called to confirm the appt a couple of days prior. Charlie and Terry showed up early (could it get any better?!) and my parents felt so comfortable with their ability to complete the work, they had them just take care of it on the spot! Everyone I interacted with on this repair was so pleasant and friendly! Would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend to others.Lisa D.
We just had Ageless Chimney replace our chimney liner. They were very professional from the original inspection/quote process to setting the date/time for the job to completion. The men worked very neatly and when they left the place was spotless. And another plus, they guys were very pleasant!! I would definitely recommend Ageless Chimney!Roberta R.
I had called Ageless Chimney because we had a leak into our attic from the chimney. We were unsure if the roof or chimney flashing was the problem. They set me up with an appointment for a one hour window and confirmed the day before. The guys got here on time. Charlie was professional and gave us a reasonable estimate and told us what the problem was. He was able to fix it right then and there! It stopped our leak! Thanks guys!Gina C.
We called Ageless Chimney because we were not happy with the company we had used previously. They were terrific -- turned up on time, showed us pictures/videos of the work that needed doing (and more pictures after they had done it), and offered good prices. Christian and Bob came back to do the work that we needed on a Saturday, and they were extremely professional and efficient, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves.Paul P.
My neighbors actually comment at how great my chimney looks. The guys at ageless are literally the only people I would trust to fix chimneys, and roofs too. They’re stand up guys. They could easily charge more for their work, but believe in being fair. They’re about to do my entire roof, and I didn’t even bother getting additional estimates. I trust Sherwood, Bobby and the rest of the crew implicitly. If you don’t use ageless for chimney or roof repairs, you will regret it. Thanks again guys and see you soon!!!Noah Rosenthal
Ageless Chimney was one of three estimates sought, and I'm glad that I chose them. Although it hasn't rained yet, I trust that the leak from failed flashing (no thanks to the previous roofers) is fixed, and the chimney on this 100+ year old home was completely re-pointed for the first time ever. From the professional office staff, to Keith the estimator, to Sherwood and Kevin who performed the work, thank you for giving me peace of mind from a job well done!Louise S.
The staff arrived during the timeframe that was stated. I originally asked for chimney and boiler sweep but one of the guys took a look and said I didn't need the boiler sweep which id have never known. They were fast and efficient. When they went up to the roof they took pictures to show the damage I had and offered an estimate for future work. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful as myself and my family have never owned a fireplace. Will use againTms T.
Mike, Greg, and Danielle were wonderfully helpful! They were super responsive. Danielle was very organized and helped me schedule ASAP. Greg and his colleague arrived on time. They were very professional and kind. They took the time to explain everything to me. Mike (the owner) was also very nice and professional when we spoke on the phone. I would highly recommend Ageless Chimney.Libby L.
Our oil company came to do the annual boiler cleaning and said there was a nest in the chimney. I had their recommended chimney company come for an estimate and they said we needed a new liner and brickwork (we have a very old house so I wasn't surprised), but their price seemed high. I'm usually wary about calling a company without a personal recommendation, but I called Ageless based on their on-line reviews and couldn't be happier. Their price was considerably less than we were quoted by the first company. They arrived on time, were able to do the work same day and were done in about an hour. The guys were very professional and everything was clean when they left. Don't be surprised if you see this same review on other web sites - I'm very happy to recommend this company!Isabel F.
Very professional. I thought our chimney was clogged, and called hoping they could come out the same day. They were at my house a few hours later, and had called to give an updated ETA which was great because I work nearby and was able to run home to meet them. The guy that came out (Sherwood) was friendly, explained everything to me, worked quickly and overall did an excellent job. I hope I don't have more chimney issues anytime soon, but if I do I'll be calling Ageless again.Scott M. Rosenberg

When the weather outside is frightful, warming up in front of a roaring fire is delightful. But what’s supposed to be an enjoyable experience can be extremely dangerous if your chimney is damaged. A chimney is an essential component of a fireplace or a wood burning stove. Without it, the by-products of a fire would have no way to vacate your home, which could lead to serious trouble. Toxic smoke would fill your house and there would be a serious risk of fire.
While a chimney is supposed to vent heat, smoke, carbon dioxide, and other products of combustion, if the structure is damaged in any way, it doesn’t function properly A damaged chimney is a dangerous chimney. It can’t vent a fire’s by-products, so every time you light a fire, you are putting yourself and anyone else around the fire in serious danger.
The Importance of Chimney Repair
Damaged chimneys are one of the leading causes of house fires in the United States. Each year, countless properties go up in flames as a result of an improperly functioning chimney. One of the main functions of the structure is to prevent excess heat from building up inside the home. If the chimney is cracked or otherwise damaged, heat can leak into the walls that surround it. Heat buildup can damage the structural integrity of the walls and the chimney; it also increases the risk of fire.
Fire isn’t the only cause for concern; exposure to dangerous gases is another that’s associated with a damaged chimney. Fire produces several types of gasses, including carbon monoxide. This colorless, odorless gas is highly toxic. If there are cracks in the structure or the flue is damaged, instead of venting out of your house, the gasses could end up pouring in. Breathing in those toxic fumes is a serious health hazard and can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, which can result in serious illness and even death.
Because of these severe, potentially life-threatening effects, early detection, and repair of any type of chimney damage is crucial.
Common Types of Chimney Damage
While chimneys are generally durable, they can sustain damage. Exposure to high heat, smoke, and other elements, such as creosote and moisture, can degrade the various components of the structure. Some of the most common types of chimney damage include:
- Damaged mortar. Most chimneys are made of masonry materials, like a brick. Mortar is the glue that holds masonry materials together. Heat, smoke, and exterior elements, like wind and rain, can lead to cracks in the mortar. Mortar damage increases the risk of moisture penetration, which can weaken the entire structure and increase the risk of collapse.
- Flue damage. A flue lines a chimney and protects the structure from high heat and dangerous gases. A damaged flue is a serious problem that can lead to severe consequences.
- Damaged or missing crowns. The crown protects a chimney from the exterior elements. It prevents debris from entering the shaft. If it’s damaged or missing, sticks, dirt, leaves, and even animals can enter the structure, resulting in dangerous blockages.
How to Avoid the Effects of Chimney Damage
Regular inspections and routine maintenance are the best way to avoid chimney damage and the devastating effects that it can cause. If your property has a chimney, schedule yearly cleanings and pays attention to any of the signs of disrepair; crumbling mortar and the accumulation of tiles in your fireplace, for example. If you spot any signs of trouble, contact a reputable chimney repair specialist as soon as possible. If you aren’t sure how to spot the signs of damage, have an experienced company assess it for you.
