Wanted to take a few minutes to pass along my experience with Ageless Chimney….my mother in law is 87 and she needed to have repairs made to her fire place chimney and to her front stoop. I went the normal route of asking around, for personal references before doing some research on the computer. I can tell you I was very apprehensive when I could not get any personal references. Quite frankly, I was most concerned about her being taken advantage of and me too….well let me tell you…I am super glad that I chose Ageless after receiving several estimates….their work and professionalism was simply outstanding…so good that I felt that I had to take the time to write this review…As for the longevity of their work, time will only tell but I am very confident in the results for the work that was performed and they warrantied it for ten years too.Michael Mantione
Honest, professional and willing to answer question. I took a shot with this company, when I sought help for what I thought was a chimney problem. They came checked out my heating , hot water systems andAdrienne Testa
chimney. I was relieved there was no problem and happily surprised when there was no charge. Anyone needing a reliable, honest and professional chimney company can rest assure you have found them with this company.
I had called Ageless Chimney because we had a leak into our attic from the chimney. We were unsure if the roof or chimney flashing was the problem. They set me up with an appointment for a one hour window and confirmed the day before. The guys got here on time. Charlie was professional and gave us a reasonable estimate and told us what the problem was. He was able to fix it right then and there! It stopped our leak! Thanks guys!Gina C.
Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance to have them look at my chimney Between 8-10. (I have to leave for work at 10:30.)Gene T.
Charlie calls at 9:50 telling me he'll be there in 45 minutes. They are not reliable. They cannot be counted on to keep their word and it is probably reflected in their work. I would not consider hiring them. They treat people like garbage.
Unfortunately not thrilled with work that was done. We had them redo our stoop with the understanding all sides would be bricked like original, it wasn't. Sides were stuccoed. Plus gaps between bricks on steps where water would seep and in winter when frozen would cause cracks. The stone was marked up and they destroyed grass by cutting stone on it. Would not recommend at all.Kathleen S.
Had the pleasure of meeting Bob this week to fix our chimney which had no cap or liner on it for years apparently (found dead birds inside gross). He beat out a previous estimate and did an amazing job! Came at straight 9am, explained everything and was done by 11. Super nice, professional, and clean. Would recommend to anyone!Alesya N.
My neighbors actually comment at how great my chimney looks. The guys at ageless are literally the only people I would trust to fix chimneys, and roofs too. They’re stand up guys. They could easily charge more for their work, but believe in being fair. They’re about to do my entire roof, and I didn’t even bother getting additional estimates. I trust Sherwood, Bobby and the rest of the crew implicitly. If you don’t use ageless for chimney or roof repairs, you will regret it. Thanks again guys and see you soon!!!Noah Rosenthal

When the weather outside is frightful, warming up in front of a roaring fire is delightful. But what’s supposed to be an enjoyable experience can be extremely dangerous if your chimney is damaged. A chimney is an essential component of a fireplace or a wood burning stove. Without it, the by-products of a fire would have no way to vacate your home, which could lead to serious trouble. Toxic smoke would fill your house and there would be a serious risk of fire.
While a chimney is supposed to vent heat, smoke, carbon dioxide, and other products of combustion, if the structure is damaged in any way, it doesn’t function properly A damaged chimney is a dangerous chimney. It can’t vent a fire’s by-products, so every time you light a fire, you are putting yourself and anyone else around the fire in serious danger.
The Importance of Chimney Repair
Damaged chimneys are one of the leading causes of house fires in the United States. Each year, countless properties go up in flames as a result of an improperly functioning chimney. One of the main functions of the structure is to prevent excess heat from building up inside the home. If the chimney is cracked or otherwise damaged, heat can leak into the walls that surround it. Heat buildup can damage the structural integrity of the walls and the chimney; it also increases the risk of fire.
Fire isn’t the only cause for concern; exposure to dangerous gases is another that’s associated with a damaged chimney. Fire produces several types of gasses, including carbon monoxide. This colorless, odorless gas is highly toxic. If there are cracks in the structure or the flue is damaged, instead of venting out of your house, the gasses could end up pouring in. Breathing in those toxic fumes is a serious health hazard and can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, which can result in serious illness and even death.
Because of these severe, potentially life-threatening effects, early detection, and repair of any type of chimney damage is crucial.
Common Types of Chimney Damage
While chimneys are generally durable, they can sustain damage. Exposure to high heat, smoke, and other elements, such as creosote and moisture, can degrade the various components of the structure. Some of the most common types of chimney damage include:
- Damaged mortar. Most chimneys are made of masonry materials, like a brick. Mortar is the glue that holds masonry materials together. Heat, smoke, and exterior elements, like wind and rain, can lead to cracks in the mortar. Mortar damage increases the risk of moisture penetration, which can weaken the entire structure and increase the risk of collapse.
- Flue damage. A flue lines a chimney and protects the structure from high heat and dangerous gases. A damaged flue is a serious problem that can lead to severe consequences.
- Damaged or missing crowns. The crown protects a chimney from the exterior elements. It prevents debris from entering the shaft. If it’s damaged or missing, sticks, dirt, leaves, and even animals can enter the structure, resulting in dangerous blockages.
How to Avoid the Effects of Chimney Damage
Regular inspections and routine maintenance are the best way to avoid chimney damage and the devastating effects that it can cause. If your property has a chimney, schedule yearly cleanings and pays attention to any of the signs of disrepair; crumbling mortar and the accumulation of tiles in your fireplace, for example. If you spot any signs of trouble, contact a reputable chimney repair specialist as soon as possible. If you aren’t sure how to spot the signs of damage, have an experienced company assess it for you.
