Custom In-Ground Pools Suffolk County

What You Get When It's Done Right

You get a pool that doesn’t crack in year three because someone didn’t account for Long Island’s sandy soil. You get masonry work around the pool that actually drains instead of pooling water every time it rains. You get a backyard you’ll use, not one you’ll regret.

Most in-ground pool builders Nassau County homeowners hire treat every yard the same. That doesn’t work here. Our soil shifts. Our groundwater sits high. Our permits take weeks, not days.

We’ve been doing this long enough to know where the problems show up before they do. That means fewer change orders, fewer delays, and a pool that looks the same in year ten as it did on day one.

Pool Installation Company East Farmingdale, NY

We Build Pools Where Others Learn Hard Lessons

We’ve been handling pool installation work in East Farmingdale, NY and across Suffolk County for years. We’re not the crew that shows up, digs a hole, and hopes for the best.

Long Island isn’t like other places. You can’t just drop a pool in the ground and call it done. The soil here requires testing. The drainage needs planning. The permits need someone who knows which office to call and what they’re going to ask for.

We handle gunite pools, vinyl liner pools, and all the masonry work that turns a hole in your yard into something your family actually wants to be around. That includes custom pool coping and tile Suffolk County homeowners ask for, concrete pool surrounds, retaining walls, and grading that keeps water moving where it should.

Suffolk County Pool Installation Process

Here's How Your Pool Actually Gets Built

First, we test your soil. Not every yard in East Farmingdale drains the same, and we need to know what we’re working with before we dig. That tells us how deep we can go, what kind of base we need, and whether we’re dealing with groundwater issues.

Then we handle permits. Nassau County and Suffolk County both have their own requirements, and if you skip steps or file wrong, you’re looking at weeks of delays. We manage that process so you’re not stuck waiting on paperwork.

Once permits clear, we excavate and start the build. For gunite pools, that means steel rebar, shotcrete application, and curing time. For vinyl, it’s the frame, the liner, and making sure the base is level so you’re not replacing that liner in three years.

After the pool shell is done, we move to masonry. Pool patio masonry Suffolk County projects need to account for freeze-thaw cycles and drainage. We build pool surrounds, coping, tile work, and any retaining walls or grading your yard needs to keep water flowing away from your house.

You’ll see progress every week. We don’t disappear for days at a time. And when we say we’re done, the pool is ready to fill—not “almost ready pending one more inspection.”

About Ageless Chimney

Complete Backyard Poolscapes Suffolk County

What's Included When You Hire Us

You’re getting the full build—not just the pool. That means excavation, the pool itself (gunite or vinyl depending on what makes sense for your yard), all necessary plumbing and electrical rough-ins, and the masonry work that finishes the space.

The masonry piece matters more than most people realize. A pool without proper coping cracks at the edge. A patio that doesn’t slope right holds water and stains. Retaining walls that aren’t built for Long Island soil shift and fail. We handle custom pool coping and tile Nassau County and Suffolk County homes need, concrete surrounds that last, and grading that actually works with your property.

In East Farmingdale and the surrounding area, you’re also dealing with specific zoning rules. Pools need to be a certain distance from property lines. Fencing requirements vary by township. We pull the permits, coordinate inspections, and make sure everything passes the first time.

Most projects take six to eight weeks from excavation to final walkthrough, assuming weather cooperates. You’ll know the timeline upfront, and if something changes, you’ll hear about it before it becomes a problem.

How much does an in-ground pool cost in Suffolk County?

You’re looking at $30,000 to $70,000 depending on size, materials, and how much masonry work you’re adding around it. A basic vinyl liner pool with minimal patio work sits on the lower end. A custom gunite pool with stone coping, tile inlays, and a full concrete surround with retaining walls pushes higher.

The soil on your property affects cost too. If we hit groundwater or need extra drainage work, that adds to the budget. Same goes for access—if we can’t get equipment into your backyard easily, that’s more labor.

We give you a full estimate after seeing your yard and understanding what you want. No surprises, no “oh by the way” costs halfway through the job.

Gunite is sprayed concrete over a steel rebar frame. It’s more durable, lets you customize the shape, and holds up better long-term. You can add bench seating, tanning ledges, custom depths—whatever you want. The tradeoff is cost and time. Gunite takes longer to cure and costs more upfront.

Vinyl liner pools use a pre-formed shell with a vinyl liner inside. They’re faster to install and cheaper upfront, but the liner needs replacing every 7 to 10 years depending on how well you maintain it. You’re also limited on shape—mostly rectangles and ovals.

For Long Island soil, both work if they’re installed correctly. Gunite handles ground movement better over time, but a properly built vinyl pool with the right base won’t give you problems either. It comes down to budget and how long you’re planning to stay in the house.

Six to eight weeks from the day we break ground to the day you can swim. That assumes normal weather and no permit delays.

Permits usually take two to three weeks in Suffolk County if everything’s filed correctly. Excavation and pool shell installation take another two to three weeks depending on whether you’re doing gunite or vinyl. Masonry work, coping, patio surrounds, and final grading add another week or two.

If we hit unexpected groundwater or need to bring in extra fill because your yard doesn’t drain well, that can add time. Same with weather—we can’t pour concrete in freezing temps or work in heavy rain.

We’ll give you a timeline before we start and update you if anything changes. Most delays come from permit issues or homeowners changing their mind halfway through about tile or coping choices.

Yes. Nassau County and Suffolk County both require permits for in-ground pool installation, and the process isn’t quick.

You’ll need a building permit, an electrical permit if you’re adding lights or a pump system, and sometimes a zoning variance depending on how close the pool sits to your property line. Some townships also require a separate fence permit since pools need to be enclosed.

The permit process takes two to three weeks if everything’s submitted correctly. If something’s missing or doesn’t meet code, you’re starting over. That’s why most homeowners let us handle it—we know what each township asks for and how to get it approved the first time.

Skipping permits isn’t an option. If the town finds out, they can make you fill the pool in and fine you. And good luck selling your house later with an unpermitted pool in the yard.

At minimum, you need coping and a patio or deck surface. Coping is the edge material that sits on top of the pool wall—it’s what you grab when you’re in the water and what keeps water from seeping behind the pool shell. Most people go with concrete, stone, or pavers.

The patio or pool surround is the area around the pool where you walk, set up chairs, and access the water. Concrete is the most common choice in Suffolk County because it’s durable and handles freeze-thaw cycles well. Some homeowners prefer pavers or natural stone for the look.

If your yard slopes toward the house or doesn’t drain well, you’ll also need grading work and possibly a retaining wall. Long Island gets heavy rain, and you don’t want water pooling against your foundation or flooding the pool area.

Custom pool coping and tile work, concrete surrounds, and retaining walls all fall under what we do. It’s not just about looks—it’s about making sure the whole setup works with your property and lasts.

Yes, but it takes more planning. Drainage problems are common in East Farmingdale and across Long Island because of how the soil sits and where the groundwater level runs.

Before we dig, we test your soil and check the water table. If groundwater is high, we may need to install a drainage system around the pool or adjust the depth. If your yard doesn’t slope away from the house, we’ll regrade it so water moves where it should.

Some yards need retaining walls to manage elevation changes or French drains to move water off the property. That adds to the cost, but it’s not optional—if you skip it, you’ll have standing water, erosion, or worse, a pool that shifts because the ground underneath stayed too wet.

We’ve handled plenty of properties with drainage challenges. It’s fixable, it just needs to be part of the plan from the start.
